Mrs. Penni Morgan
I am Mrs. Morgan, Library Media Specialist at Bell Academy. I am a graduate of Delta State University with a master's degree in elementary education. I have had the pleasure of educating children for the past sixteen years and look forward to many more. My experience includes one year in 2nd grade, four years in 3rd grade, six years as math specialist, one year as early childhood director, and five years in the library. I am excited to serve as librarian for Bell Academy. When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Benjie, and I have two beautiful girls. Sara Bess is a graduate of Cleveland Central High School currently in nursing school at DSU, and Ava is a 7th grader at Cleveland Central Middle School.
LIBRARY INFORMATION
I am excited to instill the love of reading in all students. Students in Kindergarten & 1st grades are allowed to check out 1 book at a time. Students in 2nd-6th grades are allowed to check out 2 books at a time. The library is open each afternoon for students to take an AR quiz, check in, and check out books. Books should always be with them at school as we have time set aside each day for silent reading.
AR (accelerated reader) is a program that we use to monitor students' reading. At the end of each nine week period, students in 1st & 2nd grades will receive one MAJOR grade for the percent % of reading comprehension and one MINOR grade for the % of points earned toward the point goal. Students in grades 3-6 will receive MINOR grades bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) for the percentage towards their point goal. One MAJOR grade will be given at the end of each nine week term for % of reading comprehension. In addition to receiving classroom grades, students will receive rewards for the number of words read and comprehension rate. Please encourage your child to read and quiz. You may check your child's "Progress" on Renaissance.
